White Rice
1 cups water
1 cup white rice
1 tablespoon butter or vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 garlic, minced (optional, for a Cuban taste)
1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional, for an Indian taste)
In a medium saucepan, bring water to a rolling boil.
Stir in rice, butter, salt and optional garlic and/or
caraway seeds. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer
20 minutes, or until all liquid is absorbed. Stir
rice and continue cooking for 10 to 15 minutes more.
Yield: 4 to 6 serving
